The essence of this Global Kirtan event was about activating our international kirtan community in a simultaneous resounding prayer around the globe, with its source from the heart of Vrindavan. Surrounding the Earth in the transcendental sound vibrations of Kirtan will have a powerful effect amidst current events.
The historic pilgrimage town of Vrindavan, India, the Land of Krishna, is our source venue for a 24 hour Kirtan on Ekadasi, Sunday, November 9th (Saturday, November 8th & Sunday, November 9th in the West).
The event was live streamed from various locations at http://www.krishna.com
Community organizers and kirtaniyas hosted local kirtans in over 30 known locations, although not all were able to accomplish 24 hours, they all participated in the 24 hour endeavour.

We have not yet tallied all of the places that participated.
With various other locations continuing to try to make it possible in a short amount of time. There is great excitement amongst participating communities, each with it’s own local flavor. There is building momentum and we need your help to bring this vision to reality.
This initiative is presented by KuliMela Association. It is purely word of mouth, friend to friend, communication that is activating this global endeavor that is coming together in record time. What an amazing show of our international interconnectivity and loving friendships!
This endeavor may give us an opportunity to reach beyond our usual social & devotional circles, groups & personal identities and work together in friendship with a diverse global Bhakti Yoga community and beyond to sing out simultaneously to our Lord of Divine Love, at this sacred time of prayer (the month of Kartik, Ekadasi Day).
You can get involved by hosting a program in your community or by contacting & working together with someone who is willing to coordinate an event. Even a home Kirtan Party for a portion of the allotted time will be a wonderful addition to the various Kirtan events; let us know so we can list you as a Kirtan location on the map. Or you may have another idea as to how you would like to get involved. And most importantly join us in singing our hearts out at the same time together.
We encourage each location to make arrangements to receive or transmit live streaming webcast (details to be announced) from major global locations. Each hosting location may also consider creating a local Global Kirtan FB group to help communications. Gathering of donations at each location to cover local costs will be left to the discretion of individual coordinators. We will be providing promotional flyers that will be printable in your area with adjustable text for location & featured artists details. If you are interested in hosting or organizing a locally participating Global Kirtan, join the Facebook Group: 24 hour global kirtan.
And for those of you who consider this extremely short notice, there is already increasing interest in a Global Gaura Kirtan leading up to Gaura Purnima (March 7/8, 2009 Gaura Ekadasi & Dwadasi). With some lead time more we can add to our list of participating Kirtan locations.
Let’s come together in friendship, prayer and unified Kirtan.
