Kulimela Frequently Asked Questions

Kulimela Frequently Asked Questions

Kulimela Event:

What is Kulimela?
Kulimela will be a mega-festival filled with inspiration and renewal. There will be four days of workshops, seminars, feasting, dancing, music, singing, games, theatre and more. The Radhadesh event will bring together the largest assembly of Gurukulis to date for Europe.

When is Kulimela?
Different Kulimela events usually happen a couple times every year. Check out the list of upcoming events.

Who should come to Kulimela?
This international event is open to all Gurukulis, Gurukula Alumni, Second Generation, Vaishnava Youth, etc., from all over the world – as well as those connected with them. (i.e., their children, siblings, significant others, parents, friends, etc.,) While the main group will be the Gurukula Alumni, the intent is to be open and inclusive. We welcome you regardless of affiliation (or non-affiliation), whether you consider yourself religious or non-religious and whether you’ve attended every gathering to date or this would be the first time you’ll see your former schoolmates in 20 years. Whatever your current situation in life, if you feel inspired, please come!

How is this different from previous gatherings?
There have been many successful reunions and we appreciate the wonderful service that many organizers have performed. We see this as a natural progression and will build upon the foundation they set. What will distinguish Kulimela from previous Gurukuli Reunions is its emphasis. The intent of Kulimela is to look forward, not backwards. Mostly reunions have been to get together, reminisce, and have a good time. Kulimela is certainly about having a good time; additionally we have the specific purpose of coming together to see what we can accomplish – in both the present and the future.

Additionally, Kulimela will begin to focus on the next generation. It is a top priority for the organizers to create safe, secure, and suitable facilities for our children. We firmly believe that our lives will be most visibly reflected in what we do for future generations. If we can lay the proper groundwork for a well balanced, prosperous and productive community then we will give our children an excellent basis from which they can become leading lights in the world.

Where will the next Kulimela be held?
Radhadesh, Belgium

Why did you choose those dates of July 31st to August 3rd?
Kulimela will be held the immediately after the large Radhadesh festival. This will give us access to economies of scale for much of our supplies. It is also in the deep of summer so enables students to attend.

What is the budget?
Our budget target is in the region of 30,000 Euros. This will cover costs of the host facilities, stage, food, and some limited travel expenses. Kulimela is an ambitious project. We are aiming high and seeing how close we can come to our goal. We raised $30,000 for NV, $20,000 for Alachua, and $30,000 for Moscow, so it is in keeping with those budgets.

Who are the main organizers?
There is a variety of organizers for each event. The leadership is flexible, and in fact each event is entirely dependent on the attendees to take care of everything.

For Radhadesh Kulimela, Bala Keilman -Amsterdam . has taken on the brunt of responsibility for Radhadesh Kulimela. See the organizers page under the Radhadesh event information for more contacts .

Age limits Hare Krsna

Age limits

Hare Krsna Rasalila,

the programme for Kulimela isn’t really geared around the age group from 10-16. However, that is certainly a generalisation.

There is nothing to restrict your child from being in a seminar or from attending the entertainment etc.

The age restrictions are more for individuals (parents sending their children unattended). We also have to make clear there is nothing designed specificially for that age group. However, entertainment is pretty universal and so are sports but other things may be less interesting during the day.

It really depends on your son and his interests I think, and fortunately since you will be there, it’s not an issue of responsibility.

If you would like to bring him, and you both evaluate what will keep him interested, then he’s welcome.

Hope that helps,

Kap
